The Intimate Knowledge of God

Updated: Feb 22

Genesis 3.22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat and live forever.”

Adam and Eve ate from the fruit of knowledge of good and evil. God saw that man had sinned and eaten from the tree of knowledge, as a good Father, He had to remove them from the garden of Eden since they would have eaten from the tree of life and lived forever in their sin. Here we see that man had opportunity to eat the tree of life, but he was tempted and made a decision to eat from the tree of knowing good and evil. God is always giving us great opportunities to choose life and make decisions that will lead us to abundance of life but sometimes we make decision based on our human knowledge without consulting with God. May your heart be filled with Spirit of counsel to make the right decisions.

God has set life and death before His children, and he gives them an opportunity to choose. It is on your account to choose life or death. The Lord has given man authority here on earth, but we need to depend on the knowledge of God to make the right and godly decisions.

Deuteronomy 30.15

"See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.

Rejecting the knowledge of God result to death (Hosea 4.6). It is really important to make sure that we know that we draw conclusion and make decisions based on the knowledge we have acquired. When we walk in lack of knowledge, we will make poor decisions and get in trouble.

Hosea 4:6,

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for Me; Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

There are two things in this scripture, "lack of knowledge and rejecting knowledge". So, the people of God lacked knowledge because they had rejected knowledge. In other words, God has already provided His divine knowledge, but people reject His knowledge and go after human knowledge.

Genesis 2:16-17,

And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

God gave Adam instructions on how to operate in the garden of Eden. It was clear instructions and knowledge on what will work for him and what will destroy him. Adam and Eve had the knowledge of God at their disposal, but they decided to go after their own knowledge instead of God's knowledge. Disobeying the instructions of God resulted to sin which ushered in death. Sin entered the world through one man and death entered the world through sin (Roman 5.12). One decision of disobedience led to sin which led to death, but this decision was based on human knowledge and human reasoning and not God's divine knowledge.

This is what I call the "ripple effect of rejecting Godly knowledge". Man's rejected knowledge of God, man-made decision based on his own knowledge and lustful desires. The wrong decision opened a door to sin into the world. Sin brought death to mankind. There was also the tree of life in the same garden of Eden. Man would have made a decision to keep eating from the tree of life, which would have resulted to righteous living, and eternal life. One decision made a huge difference and resulted to death in the place for life. We are living in the last days, and it is critical to walk in awareness of the decisions we make. May we walk by what God has instructed and not according to our lustful desires.

Christ Jesus, the last Adam has brought us righteousness and life. He is life and resurrection. Sin entered into the world through one man Adam and now righteousness has entered into the world through one man Jesus Christ, life has entered into the world.

Roman 5.19

For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous.

Jesus Christ is the word of God sent from heaven and whoever accepts Him has been given the power to become the child of God and to inherit eternal life. Jesus is a life-giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15.45). Rejecting Jesus Christ is rejecting the knowledge of God which result to eternal death. Accepting Jesus Christ is accepting the knowledge of God and results to eternal life. Jesus Christ is the Life and the Resurrection. It is clear that once we reject the knowledge of God we will surely die. The only way to eternal life is already provided by God and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. Once we accept Jesus Christ in our lives as the Lord and savior, He becomes our master and gives us to eternal life. Those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ have eternal life.

John 11.25

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Christ is the knowledge of God and we cannot afford to reject Him since He is life and resurrection. Those who accept Christ have been made the sons of God and have become co-heirs of eternal life through Christ Jesus.

2 Peter 1:2-4 NKJV

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, 3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, 4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

2 Peter 1:2-4 AMP Grace and peace [that special sense of spiritual well-being] be multiplied to you in the [true, intimate] knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4 For by these He has bestowed on us His precious and magnificent promises [of inexpressible value], so that by them you may escape from the immoral freedom that is in the world because of disreputable desire and become sharers of the divine nature.

KNOWLEDGE OF GOD NOT IS THEORETICAL KNOWLEDGE BUT EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE

In the scripture 2 Peter 1.2-4, I would like us to focus on the words "Knowledge" in the amplified version we see that the knowledge of God referred is as "true and intimate knowledge". This knowledge is based on our intimate relationship with God. This is not a theoretical knowledge, but it is relational knowledge. Our knowledge of God should be based on an intimate fellowship with the Holy Spirit. For everyone to experience a dynamic spiritual life, we will need to invest time on building an intimate experiential relationship with God. This intimate relationship (knowledge) will result to living a Godly spiritual life. Theoretical knowledge of God will not be sufficient to live a godly life, but it will lead us to religious living. Relational and intimate knowledge of God is birthed by spending quality time with God and His word through prayers. May the Holy Spirit teach us to nurture an intimate fellowship with Jesus Christ.

Knowledge of God leads to increase of divine power

Proverbs 24.5

A wise man is strong, Yes, a man of knowledge increases strength

Knowledge of God connects us to the power of God. It is important to know that there is divine power bestowed on us, but this power is activated by the depths of our knowledge of God. As we grow in knowledge through our relationship with Jesus Christ, we are able to manifest the divine power that is within us. The knowledge of God increases and activates the power of God. How desperate are you for God? Your thirst for knowing God determines the power of God that you will experience in your life.

Apostle Paul was so thirsty for God, may we have a thirsting and longing soul that desires to know God in a deeper and intimate way.

Philippians 3.10

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

May we desire, to know Jesus Christ so that we can experience the power of His resurrection.

Knowledge of God leads to total deliverance The intimate knowledge of God will lead us to total deliverance.

Proverbs 11:9

But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered

As we grow and mature in the knowledge of God, we will experience the truth that will set us free. Knowledge of the truth leads to freedom (John 8.32). As we wait on the Lord and invest time in fellowship with God, the chains of sins are broken, and strongholds in our minds are pulled down by the knowledge of the God. Growing in the word of God demolishes strongholds in our minds. The battle is in the mind, and it is critical to allow the knowledge of God to permeate our mindsets which brings deliverance and freedom. Knowledge that is from God will increase our spiritual capacity and this will make us stronger and stronger therefore the yokes of bondage cannot contain us. The yoke is broken because of the anointing/fatness. The anointing and fatness come through the knowledge of the word of God.

Isaiah 10.27

So it will be in that day, that his burden will be removed from your shoulders and his yoke from your neck, and the yoke will be broken because of fatness

Knowledge of God leads to intimate fellowship with God. The knowledge of God is better than sacrifices to God (Hosea 6.6). God desires is to have an intimate fellowship with us more than sacrifices. People try to please God with their sacrifices but what God is seeking is our intimate relationship with Him. He desires our hearts more than our substances/sacrifices. The Lord looks into the heart of man and not what is on the hands of man. We see the outside of the man, but God sees what is in the inside of the man. We need to learn how to offer ourselves first before offering our sacrifices. The Macedonian church offered themselves first before their offerings (2 Corinthians 8.5). Our thirsting for God and pursuing God is more important than our sacrifices. God is seeking for true worshippers, people who are after an intimate fellowship with God.

Knowledge of God leads us to spiritual discernment. It is through the knowledge of the Lord by His Holy Spirit that we are able to distinguish the Spirit of truth from the spirit of error. when we spend time with the spirit of Truth, we will be sensitive and discern the truth from the error.

1 John 4.4-6

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 5 They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. 6 We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

We are living in the last days, and we need to clothe ourselves with the knowledge of God to be able to know the truth. The more we are exposed to the knowledge of truth, the more we will discern the spirit of deception. As we grow in awareness of the truth, we will be able to easily discern any deception since our inner spiritual senses are exercised and sensitized by the truth. May we desire to spend more time in fellowship with the truth and this is how we will overcome false spirits and false teachings.

God bless you as you continue to invest more time in God, His word and in prayer. May you experience more grace and peace as you grow in the knowledge of Christ Jesus. deep knowledge of God brings us to a place of intimate relationship with God.

Intimacy is connecting with God in the deepest level, where a man connects with God spirit to Spirit through Jesus Christ.

Intimacy is a mystery. It is a deep knowledge of God revealed in the heart of a man. it is an experience that is beyond human knowledge. This is not something that one can explain to others since it's a mysterious experience. See what Paul says about his experience with God.

I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

2 Corinthians 12.2-4

This intimacy with God causes you to hear things that cannot be uttered. hearing the heavenly frequency and aligning to that which beyond human understanding.

Intimacy brings pleasure.

May we long to grow in the knowledge of God through Christ Jesus.

Shalom
